Sixteen-year-old Artem never imagined that a trip to collect his graduation certificate would end in abduction. On that day in Kupiansk, Russian forces closed the city, and he was forcibly taken from his boarding school along with a group of classmates. They were transported across occupied territories and placed in a rundown orphanage in Perevalsk. Life there was harsh — no proper schooling, little food, and children were forced to sing the Russian anthem and wear military uniforms. For weeks, Artem had no way to contact his mother. But when he finally managed to call her, she didn't hesitate — she crossed into occupied territory and brought him home.
