Twelve-year-old Oleksandr and his mother were captured by Russian forces in Mariupol and sent to a filtration camp. There, without even a goodbye, they were separated. Oleksandr was taken to a hospital for an eye injury and later told he would be placed with a Russian foster family. But he refused to forget his roots. His courage, his grandmother's relentless determination, and the tireless efforts of humanitarian teams led to a miracle — Oleksandr was rescued and brought back to Ukraine.
