Yale Humanitarian Research Lab has released a new report exposing the scale of Russia’s crimes against Ukrainian children. Researchers documented at least 210 re-education and militarization facilities, where Ukrainian children are forcibly taken. In these facilities, children are stripped of their language, culture, and family ties — and subjected to military training, from drills and parades to assembling drones.
This is Russia’s deliberate policy: to erase Ukrainian identity and raise a generation that will be used as a weapon against Ukraine and all of Europe.
Up to 1.6 million Ukrainian children remain under Russian control in occupied territories and inside Russia — hidden, moved across remote regions, with their identities falsified and Russian citizenship imposed.
Ukraine has already brought home more than 1,600 children thanks to the President’s initiative, Bring Kids Back UA. But we know this: there can be no just peace without the return of all children home.
Yale’s report is another urgent reminder: the world must not look away. Returning every child must remain at the center of any peace negotiations.
